Intramural Sports

Exercise has been proven to reduce stress, so why not have fun exercising? This year the recreation department is offering numerous intramural sports. Intramurals are completely student driven here at Washington College. Student coordinators handle the logistics of paperwork, scheduling, and facilitation of events. Students create their own teams by filling out an IM Roster Form and submitting it to the Intramural Coordinators. Teams then elect captains; these captains are in charge of seasonal meetings and providing the proper intramural schedules to their teams.

Intramural seasons typically consist of two games a week, which are very flexible with the student strenuous class schedule and work load. The IM schedule is broken into fall, winter, and spring seasons with 2 sports a season. There will also be various day and weekend long events or tournaments periodically through the IM seasons. Over one hundred students participate in every intramural sport making the games fun, competitive and very entertaining…

Interested in playing Squash and Racquetball? Join the Washington College Competitive racquetball and squash ladder. The ladder was created last year due to high interest from faculty, staff, and students. Anyone is welcome to join the ladder, no matter the skill level.

Throughout each week, players will keep track of their wins and losses. After the conclusion of one to two weeks there will be a re-ranking of individuals due to each game's outcome. Once everyone is ranked the players will be able to challenge individuals of higher rank, helping to move themselves up the ladder. The ladder will consist of players names, rank, and e-mail. Towards the end of the semester top players in the ladders will play in a round robin tournament resulting in one person becoming the Squash and Racquetball Champion at Washington College.
