Present: Michelle, Beth, Terri, Chris, Charles, Mali 1. The Day of Silence is Wednesday, April 21, 2004. 2. Posters for the day of silence will be sent to the list as Microsoft Word Attachments. Everyone, please print out a few and place them around campus. 3. A sign-up table for participation in the day of silence will be set-up outside the dining hall during lunch and dinner on Monday and Tuesday. At the table, people will be able to sign up for various levels of participation during the Day of Silence. Level one participation will be to wear an equality armband. Level two will be using gender neutral language. Level three will be remaining silent for the day. So far, we have the following people manning the table: Monday Lunch: Chris and Terri Monday Dinner: Michele and Charles Tuesday Lunch: Mali and Beth Tuesday Dinner: Charles and Chris If you are able to take over one of the times from Chris or Charles, that would be great. Email me if you can. 4. We will be meeting Sunday night at 11:00pm in Middle Basement to make T-shirts, armbands, and posters. Bring some fun music. The day of silence T-shirts are going to make the Day of Silence a lot more visible. If you want one, please email me your size. 5. We will be showing three movies on the days surrounding the Day of Silence: Monday: The Matthew Shepherd Story Tuesday: Soldierís Girl Thursday: Boys Donít Cry All films will be at 9:00pm in the Miller Library viewing room (second floor). There will be posters advertising these movies to the whole campus. Please print and post these as well. 6. A fishbowl discussion will be used to break the silence on Wednesday night at 9:15. A fishbowl discussion is a listening project that allows for members of different groups to ask anonymous questions of each other and get several different perspectives. This event will most likely be held in the CAC forum, but we are waiting to see if the space is reserved. 7. Beth agreed to contact the WAC webmaster and get our webpage posted for public viewing. 8. Chris and Mali volunteered to buy the books that we have money for in our budget. Eventually, these books will hopefully be part of a special GBLT section of the Miller Library. For now, they will be resources to EROS members.
