Next Meeting: September 2005
The Washington College Republican Club has finished up yet another year of promoting conservative issues both on campus and in the community. During the past academic year, the WC College Republicans have taken part in a variety of activities, including the reelection of President Bush. A list of major activities throughout the year includes:Pre-presidential debate between the College Democrats and College Republicans
Although we have ended our activities for the year, we look forward to a strong non-election year with our new club leaders:
Continued involvement in the political process
is crucial for everyone, but especially Republicans
in Maryland as we are on the verge of a potential
realignment within the state. In 2006, Governor
Ehrlich will seek second term, the entire
Maryland General Assembly will be up for
reelection, as will the members of the US
House of Representatives, and five-term US
Senator Paul Sarbanes is thought by many
to be retiring, making it possible for Maryland
to elect a Republican Senator.
Our continued activity on campus and in the
community, while less intensive, is nonetheless
important to building awareness to our cause.
While the American public is divided still,
more citizens are recognizing and agreeing
with the values, ideal and proposals put
forth by the Republican Party. The College
Republicans have shown, consistently, that
petty partisan politics cannot overcome good
policy and we intend to continue with that
approach by building bridges and explaining
the foundations of our beliefs.
If you are interested in making a difference
around campus, in the community and elsewhere,
do not hesitate to attend one of our meetings
or drop by one of our events. Activism is
not reserved merely for the election season;
it should be a constant.
As always, please keep our men and women
overseas in your thoughts and prayers.
