Student Life

Club Sports

Club Sports at Washington College are completely student driven. The small population leads to a variety of interests every year. The majority of interests are mainstays in student life.

The Student Government Association allows every student the chance to start their own club. Every year SGA allocates money to recognized clubs for the purpose of following their passions. Whether it is horseback riding, Rugby, or Wakeboarding, there is a club out there for each and every student.

If interested in creating a Club Sport follow the guidelines in the Club Sports Handbook!

To further the outdoor experience of the Washington college community, residents and that of the surrounding area, hopefully increasing trust and building lasting camaraderie and relationships with students and nature and to increase the appreciation of the Chesapeake bay and the wildlife and activities associated with it.

We plan to hold regular events to improve awareness and appreciation of the importance of the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem in such a way to inspire an interest in its state and wellbeing, hopefully sparking an interest in those less interested by holding more exciting activities such as paintball, trips to Six Flags, and rock climbing.

Women's Rugby

The members of the Washington College Women's Rugby Club have joined together with the purpose of providing the opportunity to participate in organized rugby exclusively for women. We all share the desire to learn this sport and excel at it. It is our belief that rugby provides an excellent opportunity to escape from the stresses of everyone's daily life, and through organized competition, improve cardiovascular health. We hope to create a team based on friendship, trust, loyalty, and communication that will surpass all obstacles.

The Washington College Men's Rugby Team consists of people with levels of experience ranging from many years to first time players. We compete against an average of 5 to 6 schools in the fall and spring semester, including the annual Rocky Gorge Tournament. Practices and home games are held on Shriver field on campus. It's a good way to meet new people and have some fun. New members are always welcome.

To schedule matches please contact our match secretary Mike Godack at mgodack2@washcoll.edu.

Wakeboard & Water Ski Club

Wakeboard and Water Ski

The Wakeboard & Water Ski club is a student oriented club that gives individuals the chance to get out on the water. The school has provided the club with a 22' water ski boat to provide maximum fun in the sun. Not only do students get a chance to explore the scenic Chester River, but they have the opportunity to learn how to water ski or wakeboard. These 2 water sports are growing rapidly in MD and VA, and the school has recognized this and provided us the resources to enjoy them. We not only wakeboard and water ski, we also like to have fun and go tubing. Even if your not interested in getting in the water, come out on the boat, get a tan, just hangout. The wakeboard and water ski club is more than a club, it's an experience.
